Every year I arrive at Albert Park long before the gates open. Some of my favourite memories begin while the circuit is still waking up. Before the grandstands fill, before the first engines fire into life, and before anyone knows how the weekend will unfold.
Off The Podium is my personal photography archive of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, capturing the moments that exist beyond the chequered flag. From the anticipation before the race begins to the roar of the engines through Albert Park, this is a visual diary of the atmosphere, people, and experiences that make race weekend unforgettable.
Every photograph on this site reminds me of a moment I didn’t want to forget.
Sometimes it’s spotting a driver unexpectedly. Sometimes it’s standing beside the pit lane watching mechanics rehearse the same movement over and over again. Other times it’s simply stopping to appreciate the atmosphere between sessions, when the circuit briefly feels quiet before everything begins again.
I'll admit my photography is biased. I'm a Ferrari fan, and always will be. Forza Ferrari! You'll notice plenty of red throughout the gallery because this isn't an objective record of the weekend; it's Formula 1 through my eyes.
Maybe that’s why I never remember the podium first. I remember everything that happened before it. It's about the moments beyond the race: the people, atmosphere and anticipation that make Formula 1 unforgettable. More than a collection of photographs, it's my visual diary of the moments that made me stop, take it all in, and keep coming back.
